Go Pros are mainly used for action shots and extreme sports which would be otherwise impossible to take- with a regular DSLR or Point and Shoot. Go Pros vary in price due to the wide vareity of models they've come out with. For example, the Hero 4 is about $400, with over 50 camera modes, but the original Hero is $130 with four camera modes.

First things first, the "on" button is on the front of the camera. Do yourself a favor and press that.

The camera will open in video mode. Pressing the on button again will switch to single shot mode. Do it again, and you will be in Burst mode, where it takes 10 photos over 2 seconds. This s great for action sequences and really fast things. The next mode is time lapse mode. Press the shutter button and the camera will take photos every .5 seconds. Don't worry about memory, the camera can store tens of thousands of photos. The next mode is settings, where you can make a lot of adjustments, and you can change your camera resolution.

"Go Pros have a Superview mode. SuperView allows you to capture an immersive wide angle perspective. What this mode does is it takes a 4:3 aspect ratio and dynamically stretches it to a 16:9 aspect ratio. This can be a great choice because it uses the height of the camera's sensor that you get with 4:3 meaning that you will see more of the sky and ground assuming you are pointed at the horizon. There are a ton of scenarios where SuperView would give great results. Activities where you have the camera mounted on your head and chest (e.g. sports) would all work great. Really anything without a lot of important focal items around the edges of the frame. So you may want to avoid using SuperView in situations where there are people are the edges of the frame since they will be stretched a bit."
